It was the traditional combination of fitted bodices heavily embellished with stones, pearls and drop chandelier crystals teamed with silk mousseline and crepe de chine flowing bottoms that dominated. Long trains and embellished over the shoulder diamante sashes completed the feel of elegance, glamour and sensuality Fawaz was aiming for. Again, as with the collections seen so far at Dubai Fashion Week, there were more ruffles and pleats, while waists were clinched in with belts adorned with rectangle-shaped crystals. The collection went through a rainbow of colours from light peach and pastels to vibrant fuchsia. Hinting at having trained in Paris under Yamamoto, the Abu Dhabi based designer incorporated asymmetrical cuts into his designs. While oversized bows and crystal drop chandelier earrings completed the high octane glamour of Fawaz’s collection.

CRYSTAL SAREE

Absolutely love it! I have been thinking along the same lines for a while now. So unusal, so beautiful, what a way to capture the spirit.
I know, most of you will hate this, but one has to be open minded about this – focus on the influence of saree and not be too traditionalist about the garment.

SHAMAIL

An admirable effort indeed. Green and blue dual color saree in half saree style and appropriate blouses to match. Also want to point out that embroidery on the blue matches with the blue saree blouse and embroidery on green matches the green blouse.

VINI IN RED DRESS

Pakistani model Vaneeza Ahmed in a saree inspired ensemble. I don’t want to call this a trouser saree; but it is close.
I have seen some really interesting pictures of her in sarees, hopefully I’ll get a chance to show some more.
I am really delighted to hear that sarees are being popular again in Pakistan – after several decades of ban as unpatriotic, it is becoming a trendy thing to wear.

BLACK BANARSEE SAREE

“A black sequin beaded saree with tasseled pallu and a black corset embroidered in gold and silver.”
I also like that tit nicely blends gold and silver, something that is not always easy to do

VANEEZA AHMED

Vaneeza Ahmed is one of the top Pakistani model. She also has her own brand called V9 or V Lawn of “lawn clothing”, which is a Pakistani word for causal clothing.
I have always liked this concept of matching wedding saree and gown. To me, it shows the common elements of the saree and the gown and points to fusion possibilities that have not been fully explored.

STYLIDH SAREE

There were several others that I liked, hopefully I’ll get a chance to showcase them here.
Class with just a tad of funk… reflect his flamboyance.

neeru and harish saree

Neeru and Harish saree at Banglore Fashion week.
I like the indianized, ethnic motif with magenta colors and the placement of the design on the border.
Don’t know much about them, but this looks interesting and the picture is stunning just because of its clarity.

DEEPA SHAH

Sigh… when I see a saree draped like this, instead of focusing on the soft colors and design of the saree, my eyes wander to the lack of blouse. Clearly, the vendor did not take the time to have a blouse made for this saree and and try to pass it off with a generic blouse that is hidden by the saree.
Sure, afterall, they are just selling the saree, may be with a blouse piece attached but not the blouse itself.
For some sarees, it might work, but for a lot of notable sarees, the blouse provides the finishing touches that are so necessary to evaluate how the saree would look, so generally I don’t condone of this practice.
Moreover, the blouse piece typically has a blouse desing built in to it; the way embroideary is placed, the way prints are oriented and the way the cut is biased, I don’t think it is unreasonabel to expect that the saree vendor demonstrate that intricacy.

The color for brides

Brides are taking matters into their own hands and choosing gowns in vibrant colors, with red probably being one of the boldest choices. If you want to stand out a little but don’t want to put on something too shocking, you might want to consider integrating just a little bit of color in your bridal dress.
A red bridal dress is a perfect bridal look if you’re aiming to make a statement. You should approach with slight caution as it’s not quite as easy to wear as you might think. Red is such an overpowering color for bridal dress that it can leave you looking washed out, especially if you have a pale complexion. Darker toned girls can go for bright, pillar-box shades for bridal dress. Red is usually the colour of the bridal dress in Pakistan. Red represents rose and in Pakistan a bride is like a rose. And many brides even today prefer to wear the traditional red color bridal dress on their wedding day.
Brides nowadays have started experimenting with their bridal dresses hence there is a large variety of colors one can choose from.
Brides are expected to dress in a manner that cast their families in the most favorable light, for they were not representing only themselves during the ceremony. Brides often wear bridal dress with rich colors and expensive fabrics
